TRIP HOME
We left the Camp on Monday morning. Stayed along the pan-handle coast line. Stayed at a RV camp near Carrabelle, FL.
Tuesday/Wednesday
We drove out to St George Island over a two (2)+ mile bridge and out to the state park. It is stunningly beautiful. We had a really nice walk on the beach. Mobile, Alabama was our stop point on Tuesday night where we stayed in a sort-of non-descript park. Wednesday we started the push for home and drove through parts of Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, back into Mississippi, Tennessee and into Arkansas
where we had our very first stay at the famed “Cracker Barrel RV Back Parking Lot” in Little Rock. The manager there was very friendly and accommodating and even helped us put on some fresh water.
Thursday
We were in a tornado “Watch” area when we got up on Thursday in Little Rock. Pulled in the slides and headed to, we thought, Forest City, Iowa. We had made an appointment with the folks at Winnebago to take care of some minor things that had cropped up in the past four weeks as we learned more about our house on wheels. We drove west and out of the tornado threat with a strong direct cross wind from the South until we got to Fort Smith. Turned North and the wind switched to directly from the West and got stronger. We drove until we felt it was unsafe and thank God we found this park about 50 miles south ofDes Moines that has full hook-ups.
Saturday
We are still here in Osceola, IA (Saturday AM) and not looking to move from here until tomorrow.
(The white is not sand) The wind has been rocking the coach so that, depending upon when you look at the coffee pot, you may have 4 cups of coffee or maybe 8 cups.
We are safe, warm and doing just fine. We still plan to stop at the Winnebago and hope to be home by Tuesday. More later. God bless.
